Historical authors known and appreciated by the market flanked by unpublished furnishings and works: this is the catalog of the Milanese auction of The Bridge of Decorative Arts of the 20th century and Design (19 and 20 June)
We note the presence of a large collection of Murano glass with some unpublished pieces. Outstanding for all, for preciousness and rarity, a combination of iron and glass made by the Venetian iron master Umberto Bellotto, performed by Vetreria Artistica Barovier and exhibited at the I Biennial of Decorative Arts of Monza in 1923. The lot estimates 40-50 thousand euros. A bulbous vase by Carlo Scarpa made by MVM Cappellin glassworks, presents rare palmette decorations applied on blue vitreous material and is presented at 10-15 thousand euros. Some glass from the Corrosi and Pulegosi series and two Alba and Laguna vases by Tomaso Buzzi exemplify the Venini production of the 1920s and 1930s, examples by Vittorio Zecchin and Napoleone Martinuzzi and two large murrine vases from the Barovier glassworks complete the section. Among the other lots, there are some rare glass from the Corrosi and Pulegosi series, two Alba and Laguna vases by Tomaso Buzzi, and two large murrine vases from the F.lli Toso and Barovier Artists glassworks. A group of stained glass windows realized on cartoons by the artists Ezio Giovannozzi, Tomaso Buzzi, Salvatore Saponaro, Libero Andreotti, three of which were performed by Pietro Chiesa in Milan, of which Le Nuvole is part of a large panel exhibited at the Venice Biennale in 1926 and at the 1927 Biennale in Monza (1,500 - 2,000 €). In the catalog there is also a selection of imaginative furniture from the 1920s by Piero Portaluppi who, at that time artistic director of the Società Ceramica Italiana of Laveno, created architectures and furnishings on the Lombardy side of Lake Maggiore. The baroque taste is combined with the ironic sensitivity of the architect, anticipating some styles of the international déco. Among others: Melchiorre Bega with furniture designed for the villa of an important family of the Lombard bourgeoisie. Mario Sironi will be presented for the first time at auction one of the rare furniture designed by the great Italian painter of the twentieth century: the walnut stipo bar, decorated with relief motifs painted in polychrome, made in 1936 is accompanied by a declaration of authenticity and provenance of Agnoldomenico Pica, architect, essayist and art critic linked to Sironi by a personal bond of friendship. |
